Meet the Brothers

Here are a few shining examples of the brothers you'll get to know when you rush Phi Mu Alpha.  (Also check out the Sinfonian of the Month on our chapter's About page.)

John Reese

John is the guy you'll see on our FML flyers around campus, and with good reason - he exemplifies a Sinfonian not only because of his passion for music, but the brotherly spirit in which he conducts himself.  John is a junior communications major with a few good things to say about himself and Sinfonia:

"I love being at Millikin. There are so many opportunities, regardless of who you are and your background. WJMU has provided me with some really great skills in the audio industry, I have an AWESOME internship working with Will Ferrell’s FUNNYorDIE.com and of course, there’s Phi Mu Alpha. I’ve never felt more at home with any other people, organization, or group. Even though I’m not a music major, my brothers make me feel great. There’s nothing better than knowing that no matter what happens in your life, you’ll always have your Sinfonian brothers around to support you. Sinfonia is music. And music is the best."

Michael Hynek

Michael is a Vocal Music Education major who also plays percussion.  He enjoys reading, playing video games, analyzing musical scores, and has a deep love for videogame music.  After college, he wants to teach music and eventually go to graduate school to get a masters degree in ethnomusicology.  He is currently the Alumni Relations Officer of the Beta Theta chapter.  A few words from Michael about Sinfonia:

"To me, Sinfonia is more than a brotherhood.  It is a family.  My closest friends and confidants are all my brothers in Phi Mu and Alpha."

Tim DiCarlo

Tim is an instrumental music education major in his second year at Millikin, who is (contrary to the picture) a tuba player.  On his musical experience and Sinfonia:

"I never really got into music outside of band until my junior year of high school when I started playing tuba for a quasi-experimental rock band called Fuzzicle. I originally rushed Phi Mu Alpha for the networking opportunities and to support the goal of keeping music alive for future generations. I enjoy long walks in the park and eggs on toast. Hail Sinfonia."
